Children explore and learn through role play

Little Learning School offer bespoke educational curriculums where creative expression and play time are enjoyable for children and easily incorporated into learning. One of the ways we encourage learning through play is through role playing activities. Role play is a not only a fun activity for children but a powerful and important part of early child development.

Our Warriewood centre encourages children to participate in various role play activities, which is a tool that is being used to help promote children’s language skills, assist with social skills and develop friendships.

In this activity, the children pretend to purchase fruits and vegetables and play the roles of shopper and shopkeeper. Through simple number recognition, the children were able to calculate costs for items and enjoyed counting their play money out loud. During this exercise the children were able to learn basic numerical literacy through play.
